Baker Road had its beginning twenty-three years ago in the small town of North Chicago, Illinois. It took its name from an actual road in neighboring Lake Bluff. The first hand-made products were antique reproductions of wall clocks.

Baker Road moved from North Chicago to Elgin, Illinois in 1977. They discontinued making clocks, and turned all their efforts to making fine oak furniture, hand-crafted to perfection.

From a modest beginning of a father and son team, Baker Road now employs fifty people. Their first year sales of $50,000, grew to the million-dollar corporation that it is today.

Outgrowing their shop of 5,000 sq. ft., Baker Road moved once more, from Elgin to South Elgin IL, into a 34,000 sq. ft. building. Baker Road is planning to expand its manufacturing plant even further in the near future.

Most of Baker Road sales are currently east of the Mississippi River covering 24 states, with plans to expand to the west.
